This is a long-established kelp processing store in Tsuruga. It is especially famous for its oboro kelp, the surface of which is hand-sliced thinly and evenly by craftsmen one by one. The restaurant has been in business for 60 years and offers a lineup of seasonal seafood purchased by professional connoisseurs. From November 6 to March 20 every year, home-boiled snow crabs are sold to coincide with the opening of the “Echizen crab fishing” season. In February, when the Echizen crab season comes to an end, fresh mizu-gani crabs are also available. In summer, freshly caught turban shells and abalone are available, and in autumn, sweet shrimps from Fukui Prefecture can be tasted on the spot.

This is another branch of “Shofukudo” in Tsuruga City. The sweets are manufactured using local ingredients such as eggs and glutinous rice produced in Fukui Prefecture. All of the sweets, including “Mame Rakugan” (bean rakugan), which are handmade by traditional craftsmen, are full of flavor and there is a wide selection of them. On a whim, there is also a time service that can only be offered directly from the main store.

A long-established confectionery store in Tsuruga, established over 100 years ago. Our top recommendation is the “Habutae Mochi” (rice cakes) and the “Habutae Kasane” (rice cake with bean paste wrapped in sponge cake), both of which have been loved for a long time. Many other traditional Tsuruga sweets are also available, such as the old-fashioned “kata-pan” (hard biscuit bread) and seafood rice crackers, which are made with a focus on flavor. The “crab pie” featuring the Seikogani Crab, a winter delicacy from the Sea of Japan, looks cute and makes a great souvenir.

The store is also full of fun and playful atmosphere with about 70 machines and a stuffed toy lottery of the sea in the store.
